Did You Know?
Many different species of fish can be caught while deep sea fishing including tuna (big eye, yellow fin and blue fin), marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi, dolphin fish, grouper, trigger fish, barracuda, snapper, shark, blue fish, and many more.
Deep sea fishing is considered any fishing done in water at or near 100 feet deep or deeper. With SouthStar Charters we typically travel between 30 and 70 miles offshore to reel in the big ones. While deep sea fishing is done commercially as well, the term is usually used to refer to the recreational type.
There are several methods used when deep sea fishing. The most common are trolling, drifting, popping and bottom-fishing. Each method uses its own equipment, is used for various locations, and to catch specific species.
Your captain knows best! When in doubt, ask your captain. He or she may know some tips or tricks, or can tell you what errors you’re making that can help you to improve your chances. The captain doesn’t just drive the boat.
Safety is our number one concern. THE CAPTAIN HAS THE FINAL SAY WITH REGARDS TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. Our policy is to fish if at all possible, but some days the weather is too bad to safely take the boat out.
**Please be sure to confirm fishing trips before traveling to the fishing destination if any adverse weather conditions are threatening, by calling 843-800-8295.**
If you decide to cancel your trip two weeks or more in advance from your scheduled trip then we will refund 100% of your deposit.
Gratuities are not included in the price. It is customary to tip the crew 15-20% of the charter price if the crew was courteous and professional.
